MuhMur Radio SoundArt Radio Broadcast : 28/05/2015.
Another excellent walk in to the studio, through the grounds of Dartington Hall Estate, birdsong and sight of frolicking rabbits in the long grass (if rabbits do frolic … unsure?). Tonights programme featured "Un Puzzle (Une Sorte De Portrait)" by The Dead Mauriacs. This is a 3x3"CDR produced especially for MuhMur Radio. (see second picture). Many thanks to Olivier Prieur for providing the sounds. It was whilst listening to tapes provided by Jan Warnke of GerauschManufaktur that I fell for the sound of The Dead Mauriacs .. late 2014. I thoroughly recommend their catalogue. Copy + Paste : https://thedeadmauriacs.bandcamp.com/music Also in the mix are Mark Durgan (whose single fitted the view perfectly) and one of my favourite Clock DVA singles.
One of the CD players took offence to the 3" CDR's, looping and skipping "Dans Le Labyrinthe", both Dave and I were quite lost in the sound and it took a couple of minutes to notice! I don't think out ruined the mix …
Please take a listen + feel free to comment. Cut + Paste : https://www.mixcloud.com/muhsteve/muhmur-radio-soundart-dead-mauriacs-special/

MuhMur Radio SoundArt Broadcast : 14/05/2015.02:
Just around the corner from Hartop Towers is Villa Rosa, a house once lived in by Irish playwright and author Seàn O'Casey. It came as a complete surprise to me that the route I have been walking to SoundArt studios in Dartington passes the last place Seàn lived. "Tingrith" is just inside the border of Totnes along the Dartington Road. Looks a bit like a Buckfast drinker's squat at the moment but the place will always (now) hold an interest for me.
For those that know me will know that I have a diploma of sorts in theatre (light & design), and I have a soft spot for Irish playwrights, Beckett being top of the tree (of course).
Tonights programme was at the new starting time of 8 o' clock. 5 minutes to air and Dave and I discover that we were locked out of the studio, luckily Dave knew the back way in … getting sneaky in sneakyville … and we made with seconds to spare. The programme features a special mix from Alistair of Aetheric Records. For some reason unknown to man, I had written Aethnor Records on my playlist, mentioning this on a few occasions - I apologise. Aetheric Records are based in Sowerby Bridge (West Yorkshire) and can be found at : https://aetheric-records.bandcamp.com They release high quality 3" CDR's, masters of drone and musique concret.

Dan Olsson
I have just spent a pleasant while listening to the debut release of Dan Olsson. "The Creature From Outer Space" is a single sided C90 on the Half-Night label.
Not what I expected (as Crispy Ambulance once said). I heard about this release via Æther mainman Jonas Lindgren, he posted an advert for the tape on his Facebook page. I have come to love the work of Jonas and his Æther project, also his collaboration with Michael Idehall as Amalthea. Their deep drone, ritual and trance like releases have been continual here at Hartop Towers. Not that it should be, but "The Creature From Outer Space" is nothing like these two projects.
"The Creature From Outer Space" is a soundtrack to a film I have yet to see. I checked my Dennis Gifford book of horror movies and then run a check through IMDB and there is no film called "The Creature From Outer Space", so it is either a film yet to be seen outside the world of Dan Olsson or a film of the mind, but it is definitely a soundtrack album. Eleven pieces with titles such as "Travelling To Earth", "Research Team Arriving Strange Landscape" and "Death Of Jane" depicting scenes or scenarios. The sound is quite intriguing with synthesisers and modulators mixing with strings, piano and whispered voice. It all makes for a great listen. As with most "soundtrack" albums, the pieces remain largely under-developed and in some cases the track just cuts off "dead" - when it could have carried on (and on), but I suppose there was a "scene change".
Memories of Pink Floyd and their "More" LP and sometimes Clock DVA with their "Alternative Soundtrack To Texas Chainsaw Massacre" but over ridingly Robert Haigh and Sema.
I am interested to hear Dan's next release …
The cassette is limited to 80 copies only and available from www.half-night.bandcamp.com and like all tapes these days it comes with a free download code.

MuhMur Radio SoundArt Broadcast : April 30. 2015.
In honour of Walpurgis Night I chose a playlist that was tinged with the occult. It was good fun to build. Two noticeable pieces are the short Hunting Horn introduction from the first ever Muhviertel live performance that took place at Manchester PSV Club in May 1985. (30 years ago), also an unreleased two minute track called "Wicker" by Dieter Müh + Lon Milo DuQuette. It was originally to be the B-Side of "The Call" album with a lock groove, but the idea / execution became too much of a headache! If there is an interested party out there who wants to release it …
I am really enjoying the atmosphere of the new studio space at Dartington, and hopefully soon I will be able to host some live performances.
Anyway - please take a listen to the programme. Copy + Paste : https://www.mixcloud.com/muhsteve/muhmur-soundart-radio-walpurgisnacht-broadcast/
